Lessons contains different types of activities, including rounds of Presentation activities, followed by Practice activities.
Presentation activities
You’ll recognize Presentation activities when you see “Presentation” indicated below the name of the Speaking Goal:
To complete Presentation activities with audio and text, listen to the audio and/or read the text.
If there are multiple screens within the same activity, click/tap the “>” icon to go to the next question or item. Then click/tap the Next Activity button to move on to the next activity.
To complete Presentation activities with a single image, click/tap on the image and read the text presented. Click/Tap the “>” icon to go to the next question or item. Then click/tap the Next Activity button when you're ready to move on to the next activity.
To complete an activity with multiple images, select one or more images according to the instructions.
To complete Presentation activities with a video, follow the steps below.
1. First watch the video introducing vocabulary for the round. You can learn vocabulary in the sequence provided by clicking/tapping Next, or you can choose to navigate directly to a specific vocabulary item by clicking/tapping the word you want to learn.
2. Complete each activity by viewing a video or listening to audio, then repeat the presented word or phrase by recording your voice. Click/Tap Next Activity to proceed to the next activity. For more details, please refer to our speech recognition articles.
Practice activities
You’ll recognize Practice activities when you see Practice indicated below the name of the Speaking Goal:
To complete Practice activities, you may need to do the following:
1. Listen to the audio and read the text.
2. Choose the correct answer to complete the questions.
3. Listen to the audio, then fill in the answer in the blank spaces.
4. Match a word or phrase with a picture by clicking/tapping on it to drag and drop the vocabulary item below its matching image.
5. Unscramble letters to spell a word by clicking/tapping on the letters in the correct sequence.
6. Match words or phrases to a category by either (a) clicking/tapping on the column or row cell where the presented word or phrase should go to, or (b) dragging and dropping the word or phrase in the correct column or row cell.
7. Use the word or phrase in a sentence by:
a. Playing the audio and then filling in the blanks.
b. Typing the word or phrase into the blank space using only the scrambled letters.
8. Play an audio and then record yourself repeating the phrase.
9. Unscramble a conversation by dragging and dropping items and placing them in the correct
order.
10. Record the correct answer by choosing it from the provided options.
11. Choose the correct words or phrase from the options provided.
12. Read the text, then click/tap on the correct answer from the options provided.
13. Listen to the audio, then fill in the blank space by clicking/tapping on the correct answer from the options provided.
